DAGOM GEDEN KUNKYOB LING
BUDDHIST MONASTERY
UPCOMING EVENTS
Saturdays, 10:30 AM:
Buddhist Dharma Teachings
*All Saturday teachings take place in person. However, some practitioners join us from other parts of the United States and other countries via Zoon. For those outside the Indianapolis Metropolitan Area, please get in touch with Ana Barbir at <ana_b1@yahoo.com> with your location information to obtain the Zoom link.
This class provides instructions on the fundamentals of Buddhism by explaining some of its essential principles as presented in Lam Rim (Stages to the Path to Enlightenment) and other texts. Topics include determining what makes one a Buddhist, understanding our dharma practice in terms of our everyday experiences, the nature of suffering, the importance of a spiritual guide, refuge, karma and rebirth, loving-kindness, compassion, and Bodhichitta, meditation, and the wisdom realizing emptiness. The goal is to help participants integrate the teachings into their daily lives by providing the time to address questions at the end of each session. Everyone is welcome.
Sundays, 1:00 PM:
Buddhism 101: The Fundamentals
*These introductory classes are only offered via Zoom. For the link, please contact Ana Barbir at <ana_b1@yahoo.com>.
Experienced practitioners lead this introductory class, and it provides a foundation for those wanting to become familiar with Buddhism. The purpose of the class is to orient those who have an interest in learning about Buddhism and welcome them to the Dagom Geden Kunkyob Ling Monastery community. The topics, which provide a well-rounded introduction, rotate throughout the month, and there are ample opportunities to ask questions. We encourage you to bring your questions since they may be issues that might benefit others. The class is open to all and requires no previous knowledge of Buddhism.
“May I be a guard for those who are protectorless,
A guide for those who journey on the road.
For those who wish to cross the water,
May I be a boat, a raft, a bridge.”
