VAJRASATTVA INITIATION
Saturday, September 30, 2023, 2:00 PM
Vajrasattva practice is a tantric meditation performed for the purification of karma. At the ultimate level, the Vajrasattva practice entails the non-conceptual meditation on voidness (emptiness), and on the conventional level, the practice entails the repeated recitation of the hundred-syllable mantra (yig-rgya), accompanied with the recognition of the four opponent powers and a complex set of visualizations. Regardless of which level one practices, the aim of the Vajrasattva meditation is to purify ourselves of negative karma which would ripen into or bring about “karmic results” that are in accord with our karmic actions. In this context, “purification” means eliminating the possibility of experiencing karmic results.
