Monthly Scheduled Events
These recurring monthly events afford opportunities to generate merit, and they also afford individuals an opportunity to support the monastery by sponsoring one or more of these monthly Pujas.
Chittamani Tara Puja | The 8th Day of the Lunar month
Chittamani Tara is a unique tantra because it was originally derived from the visionary experience of a Gelug yogi, Takpu Gargyi Wangpo and illustrates the efficacy of the Gelug tradition, demonstrating its ability to develop highly attained masters who have pure visions of deities and who can astral travel to pure lands. The Chittamani Tara tantra is very widespread within the Gelug tradition, and as one of the highest yoga tantras, it can lead us to liberation and enlightenment within a single lifetime. Consequently, Tara, as the female personification of the enlightened mind, is known as the Liberator, the embodiment of enlightened activity and mother of all the Buddhas.
The Tara Puja is a practice that invokes Chittamani Tara, who is well-known as a source of swift assistance in all temporal and spiritual matters. She is called upon to protect us from all negativities and fears, bringing about success in situations involving one's family, relationship, business, or career. Therefore, she is invoked in times of emergency, when there is distress and problems of health, when there is a need for the quick removal of obstacles, and when one's requires rapid wisdom.
Lama Chöpa Tsog Offering | The 10th and 25th Day of the Lunar month
During the practice of Lama Chöpa, we invoke all the lamas of the lineage beginning with Shakyamuni Buddha and extending to our present direct teachers who have shown us the path. We pay homage to them, make offerings, and request each of them to please bless our minds with the same realizations that they themselves generated. By offering our sincere, heartfelt requests, we make our minds ripe to receive the full blessings of this precious lineage and to actualize quickly the realizations we need to attain enlightenment. Therefore, if one wishes to experience realizations quickly, the practice of Lama Chöpa is indispensable.
Lama Chöpa Tsog offerings are made twice a month, and the practice of Lama Chöpa is a great practice to create a great storehouse of merit, which enables us to purify our negativities and attain Enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. Both eatable/monetary offerings may be presented during this puja.
